Private cars and cabs stop at Dasturi Naka. Parking there costs about Rs 100 for the day and is paid separately at the naka. From Dasturi you walk the 3 km to Matheran market, take a hand-pulled rickshaw, or hire a horse. Senior citizens usually take the rickshaw one way and walk back downhill.

The toy train from Neral runs in fair weather only and seats are limited, so most families keep the cab till Dasturi and treat the train as optional.
